New Year's and New Year's Resolutions...Or Not!

I didn't make any New Year's Resolutions this year. Who needs the extra pressure?  Things are hard enough trying to raise happy, confident and smart young ladies and a perfect gentleman!  Ha Ha! I say that laughing because I'm sure every mother thinks she's failing at one time or another.  But you'll be happy to know that I haven't given up on myself just yet (like my sweat pants wardrobe conveys) and like my mood, this changes in February to!

This New Year's we celebrated as we usually do (as long as everyone is well)...over at The Mathews!  We ate, we drank and we played Bunco all night! I didn't win anything as usual but I did get 2 Buncos which is pretty good for me!
Laura's mom brought the fun little hats for all the kiddos to wear. The girls lighted up so they were walking strobe lights all night. They loved it!
Luke's dad brought fireworks and during our Bunco Break, we went to shoot fireworks. I'm not sure what happened to Zakk but as soon as they went off, he ran around the house screaming his head off.  We found him!

Happy 6th Birthday Izzy!  After all the Christmas and New Year's festivities died down, we celebrated Izzy's Birthday with a Carnival in the school.  Sweet, cute little Izzy!
Now this is more like it...
There was dance twister which Logan was happy to take care of with her IPad..
 Sack races...
 Pop can toss...
 The balloon pop...

 Penny drop...
And limbo of course.  How low can you go...not much more!

Doesn't Grandma Trish have a beautiful set of grandkids? I think Zakk might be a bit outnumbered...poor little guy! He's growing his hair out so he can fit in. :)

Grandma Bertie and Kevin watching everything from the sidelines.
Would you believe me if I told you that we actually flew kites in January? We did during one of those crazy warm days. Or at least upper 40's seems like a warm enough day...right?

We celebrated Grandma Chris' birthday a little late by going to eat at Chic Fil A and watching Walking with the Dinosaurs. It was pretty cute and more educational than I thought it was going to be!

Hockey is still going strong and it's a good thing that the kiddos love it because Kevin likes it so much that I don't think he'd let them stop! The girls are now playing games in the Mini Mites League and Zakk is still in the learning stages.

Logan is super fast on the skates and has a natural awareness of the game. She's still not super confident with her stopping but she's going to get it really soon!
Tyler is doing great to...she is a very good defensive player and truly loves it. It's funny how you see these qualities but it may not end up being their specialty. Either way, they're going to make a great team when they get older and more experienced.
And my little Zakk attack...he's improved so much since his first day of practice. He still likes to walk on the ice instead of gliding but he's building his confidence and I think it's going to be like walking...he's going to realize there's nothing to be scared of (he's wrapped in layers of protective gear anyway) and up and take off one day.

West Bottoms was nice and cold this month! The kiddos were still on Christmas break so they enjoyed the fun with me and grandma. They hung out in the tent under the table with their friend Gavin.
For a reading reward at Logan's school, the kids all got to dress as a teacher for the day and the teachers dressed as students. She looks just like Mrs. Schmuhl!
Tyler is now an official Acolyte at church. If she was nervous, she didn't let it show!

Zakk had some fun days at school this month. New Year's Party Day, Kansas Day so they all dressed up like cowboys. And his favorite center, if you haven't already guessed it, the "BLOCKS."  So once again, I do a brain dead thing and send him to school in this camo outfit he received from Christmas. Tyler comes home from school and asks why Zakk was still in his pjs. I guess I didn't realize they were pjs until it was mentioned. I know, there could be worse things I could do. It didn't bother him one bit! He did laugh at me the next couple time he wore them to bed...how does he remember these things?
Oma is still hanging in there...
Stormy hosted a Wine & Cheese Birthday Party for Traci and Janae and all the church ladies got together to celebrate. These ladies are always so much fun to hang around!
