I had the sweetest Valentine's Day ever! The day started with waking up to banging downstairs. Tyler was making breakfast for everyone...except dad cuz he leaves for work at 5am so he can spend more of the evenings with us! She made Chocolate Chip Eggos for Logan & Zakk and she had my coffee cup sitting out with a spoon and 1 cream packet sitting in it...just the way I like it...I added the coffee!
The day before, we managed to get most of our Valentine's ready so I just had to finish up and get the games ready for the girls Valentine's Parties!
About a week before Valentine's Day, we had a Valentine making party. Grandma took me to a mini Valentine making class at Archiver's a few weeks ago so that inspired me to get the girls to make some. Here's how our project turned out...
The Valentine's with the holes were for bottlecap charms that the girls made and they stuck a chain in the envelope so their cousins got valentine necklaces!
These were Zakk's Valentine's. I saw this free printable on Pinterest and I just had to use it because we just have these bugs laying around the house (the plastic ones thankfully).
Back to game making....although my day kinda hopped around like this so why shouldn't my blog!
First was the Balloon Pop Game where I hid prizes & candy stuffed inside the balloons. Then I stuck the balloons on the hearts that my dad made me for my craft shows. I used this idea, that I got from Martha Stewart of course, for Halloween in the shape of a pumpkin but I can't believe I have never thought of using my hearts before this. It was amazing!
The 4th graders used darts to pop their balloons and the 1st graders used a thumb tack. It was a big hit!
Our next game was the Marshmallows and Conversation Heart Chopstick Pickup (well, that's what I just named it). The fourth graders had to use chopsticks (that I got at the local Chinese restaurant here in town) to pick up all their marshmallows and conversation hearts and put them back in the cup. The fastest got to throw darts at the balloons first. Would you believe that all the girls were finished before the boys???
For the first graders, we just used marshmallows and they had to suck them up with a straw and put them back in their cup!
Grandma and grandpa came just in time to help me carry in all the party goods and especially the hearts. I wasn't sure how I was going to do that and get Zakk in there all by myself! Whew!!
In this picture Tyler acts like she doesn't really know what she is looking at but boy does she have us all fooled because every time we go to eat at Kyoto's she whips out the chopsticks and uses them perfectly.
I think Logan had a strategy because I stuffed the balloons with bouncy balls and the package that I bought had various sizes of balls and she just happened to get the largest ball...hmmm. I'm sure it was a coincidence but it wouldn't surprise me!
The parties came to an abrupt end at 3:25 when school let out but how do you slow down when you've been going 100mph since 6am? You go home and party some more! When we got home we played twister with grandma and grandpa! I wish I had gotten a picture of grandma playing twister but I was laughing to hard...I wasn't a pretty picture either!
This picture was from the day before when I got my twister (from Logan) game because Kevin can't keep a secret for long. I also got the clue game from Tyler.
Now I'm looking forward to my Valentine's present from Kevin that he gave me a week ago because as I mentioned before...he just can't keep a secret. Tickets to the Lady Antebellum concert, a stay at the Marriot and reservations to Drunken Fish Sushi House...I'm SO spoiled!!
