On To OCTOBER & Field Trips & Fun

October began (as it always does) by celebrating Kevin and my anniversary with the kiddos at one of my favorite sushi restaurants, Drunken Fish. I'm actually a little shocked by the fact that everyone in my family loves sushi...even Zakk.

The first fieldtrip of the year was Zakk's trip to the Pumpkin Patch. Tyler and Logan both went to this Pumpkin Patch when they were in Pre-School so I knew my way around! It was a misty and dreary day but that didn't stop any of the fun.

Zakk picked out his own pumpkin and then I picked some up on our way out for our front porch.
We had fun getting lost in the hay maze.

For snack everyone had apple juice and apple donuts. It was so cute because as Miss Susan was handing out snacks and drinks, nobody dared eat until they said their prayer. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. My little man sitting patiently waiting for his cue to eat. At home those donuts would have already been gone!
This was the entrance to the Haunted House. Oh, it took Zakk so much courage to go through this even though it was not that scary at all. I think it was the anticipation because he was so excited to get to the Haunted House, he couldn't stop talking about it and then we were finally there and he didn't want to go in. He did eventually get through it!
Logan's field trip was next and we went to Paradise Park in Lee's Summit. It was almost like a mini Science City where the kiddos learned about some science, mined for stones, played mini golf, had fun in the ball pit and they even made their own rice krispy treats.  Afterwards we went to the park for lunch.
Logan and Piper playing mini golf.
Logan started playing volleyball again.

And they are all still enjoying hockey and getting ready to play on a team...at least Tyler and Logan are! So in this video I'm recording Zakk and he's doing so good joining in and listening to the coaches so Kevin decides to sneak off the ice but as you can see at the end of the video, Zakk caught onto him and wasn't having that.

This year we decided that 5 days was too long to be away from our kiddos so we loaded them all up and took them to War Eagle with us. The hotel room was packed but we all had a great time and they were so good.

And to our surprise (and mom's to), dad brought home a new pet...a miniature horse! He has yet to be named but I'm sure it's going to be a good one!
My last veggies from the garden...I'm a little sad but happy to not have to go out and weed or pick or plant anything for a while. I'm sure I'll be ready to start back up come springtime!
