SNOW DAY!

This past Thursday was our first big snow of the season.  Not fort size big but big enough that they cancelled school and we got a head start on Christmas Vacation! The kiddos were a little sad that they missed their school parties and I was a little excited that I stopped at JoAnn's Wednesday to purchase some on-sale Christmas crafts.

This kids had fun coloring some shrinky dinks to make this fun Christmas scene...

Of course they wanted to play in the snow despite the freezing temperature so I spent 30 minutes getting them dressed to go out for about 15 minutes of playtime! I got some good pictures though. And we have to take advantage of the snow when we get it because as you all know, we barely had any snow last year.

The night before, Kevin got a shipment of meat compliments of some vendors from work and where there is shipped meat, there is dry ice. So we had a science experiment night to. The internet is a great thing for moms on the go. I just looked up dry ice and it told me what I needed to do.  First we just stuck it in warm water in the sink and then we added dish soap and it made dry ice bubbles. The bubbles were really cool because you could pick them up and squeeze them between your fingers and it gave off a puff of smoke and looked like your fingers were on fire.

Tyler and Jessie were so excited because they said they were going to tell Mr. Draeger because he would give them extra credit!

Speaking of science experiments, Tyler had to build a 3D atom of Chlorine and give a presentation about it. Of course my wheels were turning on what kind of cool things we could do but Tyler didn't want any help at all. She said she already had an idea and she sure did. She did it all by herself and I'm so proud of her! She was really excited to because her teacher asked her if he could keep hers as an example to show future classes. One thing that hers had that her teacher pointed out was that she put the plus and minus on all the electrons and neutrons and such (I really don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to science) but Tyler does.
Now to take a much needed break from all that learning stuff we're going to relax all vacation long.  Well, except that I signed the girls up for the Youth Fitness Camp at the YMCA. It's for 6 days during break and they get to swim everyday...they're super excited. Even Logan who cringes at the sound of anything fitness!

  1. You really are super mom! Glad you were prepared for your snow day.... we weren't lucky enough to get an extra day off! Hope your "break" is wonderful!
